Las Vegas may be famed for its dazzling nightlife and high-stakes entertainment, but our recent return proved that the city also has a softer, more family-friendly side—especially when experienced from the comfort of Hilton Grand Vacations at The Boulevard.

A Different Vegas Vibe: February vs August
Our last trip to Las Vegas together in August 2023 was a whirlwind. The city baked in the summer heat, often surpassing 100°F, making daytime exploration difficult. On top of that, I was attending the Cisco GSX conference—an incredible professional experience, but it limited my time with family. They got to see the city, while I mostly saw ballrooms and presentation screens.

This recent trip, however, was a refreshing contrast. The late winter weather was pleasantly mild—perfect for sightseeing, walking along the Strip, and even enjoying a dip in the pool with the kids. With no work obligations, I could finally be present every moment, making the most of each experience.
Reconnecting with Old Friends

One of the highlights of this visit was reuniting with long-time friends—who were also former colleagues I hadn’t seen in 16 years. The joy of catching up over dinner, reminiscing about shared experiences, and introducing our families to one another added a heartwarming, nostalgic touch to the trip. These are the moments that remind us why travel isn’t just about places—it’s about people.
Making Las Vegas Family-Friendly
Yes, Vegas can be a haven for adults, but with the right approach, it’s also a magical place for kids. Here’s how we made it work (excluding our visits to the Hoover Dam, Red Rock Canyon and Seven Magic Mountains):
- Swimming at the Hilton Grand Vacations: The kids loved the pool! The gentle steps and the clear blue water offered hours of safe fun.
- M&M’s World and Coca-Cola Store: These colorful, interactive stores offered sweet treats and larger-than-life photo ops that delighted both kids and adults.
- Iconic Strip Views: From the New York-New York skyline to the dazzling Eiffel Tower replica at Paris Las Vegas, the scenery alone is unforgettable.
- Delicious Family Dining: From diner-style comfort food to kid-friendly mac and cheese and pancakes, we found meals that satisfied every craving.
- Art and Attractions: Sculptures, indoor gardens, and themed displays (like the Chinese New Year exhibits) gave the kids new sights and stories to discover around every corner.
- Nighttime Lights and Fountains: The glowing Strip and the Bellagio fountains created that quintessential Vegas experience—enchanting without being over the top.

A Moment to Treasure
This trip reminded me how valuable it is to slow down and enjoy simple, shared moments. Las Vegas doesn’t always have to mean casinos and shows—it can also mean giggles at dinner, selfies by glowing fountains, and walks under neon skies.

Rediscovering Vegas Through Family Eyes
Returning to Las Vegas without the rush of work and in more pleasant weather gave us a whole new appreciation of the city. It became a playground for wonder, bonding, and joyful discovery. Whether you’re traveling with kids or reconnecting with old friends, Las Vegas has layers of magic waiting—beyond the casinos and well beyond the stereotypes.
